Agricultural roots: a foundation built on lived experience

Modern B2B buyers look for one defining trait above all else: authentic experience. Jonas's connection to coffee, cocoa, and agriculture began long before the creation of Vista.

Growing up in Cameroon, Jonas was immersed in a community where farming was the primary source of livelihood. Coffee and cocoa were not simply agricultural commodities viewed from a detached business perspective; they were the economic and social fabric of everyday family life. This upbringing provided Jonas with a deeply practical understanding of what it means to depend on the soil.

He witnessed firsthand the intense physical and logistical labor required to prepare farms, maintain crops, harvest selectively, process raw goods, and transport agricultural products. More importantly, he developed a profound appreciation for the intrinsic relationship between the farmer, the land, the crop, and the marketplace.

A direct connection to origin

Through this foundational experience, Jonas understands that behind every bag of wholesale green coffee or shipment of raw cocoa are farmers who invest their time, labor, and resources into producing the crop. He intimately understands the structural challenges that arise when rural farmers have limited access to market pricing, logistics, and international buyers.

Moving beyond traditional fair trade

One of Vista's distinguishing principles — driven entirely by Jonas's background — is its uncompromising commitment to direct trade. Rather than operating through opaque layers of brokers and intermediaries, Vista builds relationships directly with producers.

While many companies participate in corporate fair-trade models, Jonas seeks to distinguish Vista by closing the geographic and economic distance. The goal is not simply to purchase a product that meets a baseline certification, but to understand producers' daily realities and build commercial partnerships based on transparency, true farm-gate equity, and long-term value.

Building the supply chain from the farmer up

Through his deep-rooted connections in Cameroon, Jonas has cultivated direct, lasting relationships with coffee producers and farming communities — most notably in the fertile Boyo area of Cameroon's Northwest Region. Under his leadership, these relationships have coalesced into a robust direct-trade network involving approximately 180 independent coffee and cocoa farmers.

This producer-level network gives Vista an unprecedented ability to oversee the supply chain from the ground up. From monitoring Trinitario cocoa fermentation to optimizing the processing and aggregation of Fine Robusta, Jonas ensures that quality considerations, fair pricing, and logistics align perfectly before the product ever reaches the international buyer.

Cameroon to the world: professional synergy

Jonas brings together his Cameroonian agricultural roots, his international perspective, and his Canadian professional experience to aggressively develop Vista's presence in the global agricultural marketplace.

In addition to his agricultural expertise, Jonas is a trained medical professional in Canada with a deep background in public health. While his medical career operates separately from Vista's daily agricultural operations, the intense discipline, organizational strategy, and community-oriented perspective he developed in the Canadian healthcare sector directly inform his approach to building a sustainable, ethical supply chain.

His vision is to demonstrate that Cameroonian coffee and cocoa can compete at the highest levels of the international stage — not only because of their exceptional terroir and quality, but because of the resilient stories, communities, and people behind them.

“For me, Vista is more than a trading business. It represents a continuation of something I have known since childhood: the profound importance of farming to Cameroonian families. Our mission is to take that understanding from the communities where it began and build a reliable, ethical bridge to the global marketplace — from the farmer, directly to the world.”
